New blocks for Rory OR great idea from watching DIY Network last night? Find out at our new site here 🙂
We took a mini-vacation from Friday-Monday on the beaches in Michigan. It was great and now we are extending that break to include a ‘vacation at home week.’ This is no ordinary vacation…the projects have already started. There is concrete setting up in a mold as I type to complete our fireplace mantel, and Dave is building a form for our concrete bathroom sink experiment. So stay tuned for some neat pics coming in the next day or two!!

Any suggestions on what to put on those naked walls and nooks? Maybe a built-in bench/storage piece for the nook and floating shelves above the toilet? Help! Please share…
We only had a master bathroom and a half bath BEFORE…so it was a must for us to add a shower on to the tiny 4ft x5f half bathroom. Otherwise it would be a little weird to make guests or grown kids go into our bedroom to shower. Obviously with a bathroom that small it took some thinking and space planning in order to squeeze in a shower. So I got out the graph paper and came up with a plan. We moved a few walls around (okay, our contractor took care of this one!) and switched the door to the side of the bathroom and…Voila! HELLO Shower!
Here is a picture looking into the tiny bathroom BEFORE the remodel (obviously). Terrible everything in my opinion (well, i do like the circular window). The only item we salvaged was the pedestal sink and that is just temporary until we build a vanity and pour a concrete sink/top. And I would LOVE to DIY a stained glass window at some point.
And now the CURRENT (everything is always evolving so I’m not sure I will ever be able to use the word ‘after’):
Front Entry way Before and ‘After’
So there it is! What do you think? Still needs some kind of picture or floating shelves above the toilet. Any suggestions??
We are taking a few risks and having fun with our first house! With NO previous experience with construction, woodworking etc… we are taking on concrete countertops, a concrete cobblestone paver patio, and building all kinds of furniture. Follow along and learn from our mistakes 🙂
